What to expect from Android and iOS app development
The stages of an Android and iOS build with Vedora Labs: excavation, architecture, production engineering, store release, and what happens after.
01
The same four stages as every other craft
Excavate the workflow, including offline moments and the notification that is actually useful. Architect the client, the sync, and the roles. Forge it in iterations you can install. Activate it on the stores, then watch what people do.
You are in those stages. An app built from a questionnaire, without the person who does the job, becomes a pretty client for a process that does not exist.
02
Decisions that show up in week one
One platform or two. Accounts: who signs in, and with what. Offline: which actions must succeed on a train. Push: which events are worth an interruption. Admin: whether the web dashboard already exists. Analytics: what 'used' means, so launch is not a feeling.
Store accounts should be yours. We should not be the only people who can ship a bugfix in six months.
03
After the store says approved
Review can reject a build for reasons that are policy, not code. Plan a buffer. The first weeks of real use will surface exceptions the workshop did not see. That is what the evolution retainer is for. A launch without a plan for version two is how apps stall at 1.0.
If you are still choosing the platform, read the Android versus iOS guide before the proposal.
Questions
- Will I get installable builds during the project?
- Yes. Iterative delivery is part of the forge stage. You should be able to use the app before it is in the store.
